US: Deputies Chase Runaway Bird Through Union County

A daring emu escape in Union County gave deputies a wild Friday morning (October 18) as they tried to corral the runaway bird strutting along Maple Ridge Road in Allen Township. The Union County Sheriff’s Office shared that the elusive emu had fled from a nearby property, jumping a 6-foot electric fence.
Body camera footage captured the chaotic scene as deputies attempted to lure the uncooperative bird into a trailer using dog food, bird food, and peanuts. Just as the situation seemed hopeless, the owner arrived and confidently wrangled the emu, saying, “Not my first rodeo.”
The bird's brief taste of freedom ended with a safe return, but not without giving deputies an unexpected adventure.
