Drugs seized in 79 cases across three excise stations in southern India incinerated on official orders
In a decisive anti-drug operation in southern India, authorities incinerated drugs seized across 79 cases, following strict orders from excise officials.
The incident took place in an incineration center in GJ Multiclave in the Ameerpet area of Hyderabad district on October 28.
Visuals showed the intense scene as police personnel destroyed large amounts of drugs by incineration, with officials monitoring the controlled process. Workers were seen throwing packets and covers filled with seized substances into the burner under close supervision.
According to reports, the total value of the destroyed substances reached an estimated Rs 2.78 crores. KAB Sastry, Chairman of the Hyderabad Drug Disposal Committee, oversaw the burning process, with AES Secunderabad, Srinivasa Rao, leading the operation. The seized items were disposed of at the cremation center at GJ Multiclave India.
The 79 cases included 27 from Ameerpet, 13 from Charminar, and 39 from Golconda excise police stations, involving 135.8 kg of ganja, 174.8 grams of MDMA, 1939.5 kg of cannabis, 2.1 grams of hashish oil, 300.6 grams of charas, 5.14 grams of cocaine, 25 LSD blots, 9.8 kg of alprazolam, and 14 grams of drug pills.
The breakdown of the destroyed substances included Rs 34 lakh worth of ganja, Rs 62 lakh for cannabis, Rs 15 lakh for charas, Rs 1.10 lakh for cocaine, Rs 21 lakh for MDMA, Rs 70,000 for drug pills, and Rs 98 lakh for alprazolam.
This disposal marks part of ongoing efforts to tackle drug-related offenses, with similar past operations. Excise Commissioner E. Sridhar, Enforcement Director V.B. Kamalasan Reddy, Hyderabad Deputy Commissioner KAB Sastry, and Assistant Commissioner Anil Kumar Reddy commended the Circle Inspectors of the three police stations for their role in this operation.
