This is the terrifying moment a deadly cobra was caught under a lorry in Thailand.

The venomous serpent slithered under the parked 10-wheeler to take shelter from the midday heat in Ang Thong province on December 8.

Lorry driver Yam, 60, said he was about to make a delivery of corn to a factory when he found the reptile hiding between the rubber tires of his vehicle.

He called the local rescue team, who then enlisted reptile expert Ratha Tapianthong's help in dispatching the sinister snake.

Footage shows the experienced snake wrangler deftly handling the furious cobra with a catch pole as she coaxed it out into the open. She did a brief snake charmer dance before bagging the creature to be released into the wilderness.

Yam said: 'While the truck was parked, I noticed the cobra slithering out from under a nearby pickup. I tried to chase it away, but it was very aggressive and was hissing at me the whole time. I was scared of being bitten, so I called the rescue team for help.'

Researchers found that 7,000 people are treated for snake bites each year in Thailand. Suchai Suteparuk from the Division of Toxicology at Chulalongkorn University reported that 30 of those die, with cobras being the biggest killer.
