A passenger became stuck while trying to squeeze through closing train doors in Singapore.

Footage shows the holidaymaker sticking her walking cane between the sliding doors in an attempt to enter the train at Gardens by the Bay MRT Station on January 30.

The woman can be seen trying to hop onto the train, but the doors suddenly closed, trapping her violet cane in the middle. Red blinking lights appeared above the door as a warning.

Upon seeing this, a man inside the train helped by forcefully pulling the doors apart.

She and her presumed male companion quickly entered while the thoughtful passenger held the door to prevent it from shutting again.

Some locals condemned the woman's actions, arguing that she should be fined for causing a safety risk and potentially delaying the train. Others defended her, saying people sometimes act impulsively due to environmental stress, especially tourists unfamiliar with local transport rules.

In 2023, a tourist was caught on camera attempting to force open train doors at Yio Chu Kang, Braddell, and Ang Mo Kio stations. He was charged with three counts of being a public nuisance.
