Tropical storm hits homes in Thailand as monsoon season nears
A tropical storm hit homes in Thailand as monsoon season nears.
Strong winds and heavy rainfall battered locals in Kham Khuean Kaeo District, Yasothon, on March 12.
Footage captured by Jaranya Sukjam shows debris from a roof flying through the air, with scattered items littering an empty road.
Suspended cable wires can be seen swaying uncontrollably due to the powerful squall.
Authorities have urged residents to stay indoors during the storm.
Thailand is affected by tropical storms, particularly during the monsoon season from May to October. These storms typically form in the South China Sea or the Pacific Ocean and move westward, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and flooding.
A tropical storm is a weather system with wind speeds ranging from 63 to 118 km/h (39 to 73 mph), forming over warm ocean waters. While less intense than a hurricane or typhoon, it can still cause significant damage.
