Great hornbill joins family enjoying picnic for a snack
A friendly great hornbill joined a family enjoying a picnic to ask for snacks.
The large bird flew over to the group of visitors who gave it a few bites of their trail food at Thong Pha Phum National Park in Kanchanaburi, Thailand.
Footage shows the bird with awesome plumage perched right in front of a hiker and pecking food right out of his hand.
The great hornbill bit the food with its huge beak and amusingly offered it to the hiker's mouth.
Visitor Thongthai Palawat said: 'We went there to explore nature, and we saw the bird. It was an incredible experience.'
The gentle and friendly bird hung out with the hikers until they had to move along on January 10.
The great hornbill is found in forests across Thailand, especially in protected national parks like Khao Yai and Kaeng Krachan. They primarily eat fruits, especially figs, but also consume small animals.
