Residents fled as an earthquake shook homes in the Philippines today.

CCTV footage shows kitchen items rattling inside a condominium unit in Pasig City, Metro Manila, as the earthquake struck around noon on Tuesday, May 27.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that the quake's epicentre was located in General Nakar, Quezon, at a depth of 10 kilometres.

The earthquake, tectonic in origin, struck at 12:17 pm. Initial reports measured the tremor at magnitude 5.1, but PHIVOLCS later revised it to 4.6.

Although no damage or aftershocks have been reported so far, authorities warned that subsequent tremors could still occur.

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific' Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcanic eruptions and earthquakes happen.
