Terror at the Bingo Hall man is stabbed with a machete and five are arrested in Birmingham

West Midlands Police cordoned off a BJ's Bingo Hall in the Kitts Green area of Birmingham after it was alleged a man had his arm almost cut off following a harrowing machete attack inside the arcade area of the venue.

Armed police were dispatched along with other officers and paramedics.

A witness who was inside the establishment told of the attack on Facebook: 'We were there and a lad nearly had his arm chopped off with a machete, I’ll be surprised if it’s open tonight as it’s got to be a crime scene now.'

Another said their mother and sister were inside: ‘Machete attack at BJs bingo, my mom and sister were locked in with other players. one taken to hospital, couple arrested’

Officers placed a cordon around the entrance on Mackadown Lane and attendees, including the elderly, were seen waiting to leave the area.

West Midlands Police said in a statement: ‘We've arrested five people following disorder in Mackadown Lane, Birmingham, this afternoon (31 May).

‘We were called to reports of fighting at around 2.50pm and a man was discovered with stab wounds.

‘He has been taken to hospital for his injuries to be assessed.

‘We're in the early stages of our enquiries but five have been detained on suspicion of violent disorder.

BJ’s Bingo Kitts Green added online: ‘Due to an ongoing police investigation following an incident earlier today, BJ’s Bingo Kitts Green will be closed this evening.

‘We understand this may come as a disappointment, but our top priority is ensuring the wellbeing and privacy of our customers and team.

‘We kindly ask our community to avoid speculation or sharing content related to the incident on social media. ‘Let's respect the privacy of everyone involved.

‘Thank you for your understanding and continued support.

‘Bingo’s better together and we’ll be back soon.’
