Out-of-control car crashes through Christian shop in Indonesia
This is the shocking moment an out-of-control car crashed into a Christian shop in Indonesia.
Footage shows a shopkeeper sitting near the entrance of the store in Malang City, East Java, when a speeding vehicle suddenly slammed through the glass door, striking shelves of religious items.
A glass cabinet containing spiritual accessories was also destroyed in the impact.
Miraculously, a statue of the Virgin Mary located at the centre of the display was left undamaged despite being hit by the car.
The driver, identified by police as Ahmad Dahlan, 80, reportedly mistook the accelerator for the brake, causing the crash.
Police Inspector One Isrofi, Head of the Law Enforcement Unit at the Malang Resort Police Traffic Division, said: 'It is suspected that he stepped on the wrong pedal. He should have pressed the brake, not the gas. After the crash, the driver immediately got out and appeared confused.'
Authorities estimated the damage to be seven million rupiah (317 GBP), which the driver agreed to cover. Repairs were scheduled to begin the following day.
No one was injured in the incident on Saturday, June 14.
