DAYTON, Ohio — A reckless driver was arrested June 8 after leading Dayton police on a dangerous pursuit that ended with a vehicle being stopped by force on U.S. 35.

While on patrol near Steve Whalen Boulevard, officers spotted a vehicle driving erratically. The vehicle matched the description of one flagged by a Flock Safety camera earlier that day as possibly stolen. When officers attempted to catch up, the driver exited at Smithville Road, drove onto a grassy embankment, then re-entered US 35—this time traveling the wrong way into oncoming traffic.

Officers activated lights and sirens, but the driver refused to stop. Due to the extreme risk to public safety, one officer used a maneuver to forcibly stop the vehicle.

The 25-year-old driver was arrested, taken to a hospital for evaluation, and later booked into the Montgomery County Jail on felony failure to comply charges. A 26-year-old passenger was also arrested for outstanding warrants.
