This is the bizarre moment staff found a stash of illegal liquor, causing air-conditioning problems on a train in India.

Railway technicians inspected the duct and reportedly discovered 316 whiskey bottles wrapped in newspaper on the Lucknow-Barauni Express on August 12.

The liquor had been stored above berths 32 and 34, obstructing airflow in the air-conditioning system.

The illegal stash was discovered following chronic complaints from passengers about hot temperatures in the coach.

The Divisional Railway Manager of Sonpur said: 'We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers. The illicit liquor was seized by the appropriate authorities, and the issue of less cooling was resolved afterwards. We are thankful for bringing the issue to our notice.'

Pankaj Kumar Yadav of the Government Railway Police reported that train attendant Ashish Kumar was arrested for possessing liquor despite a ban in the state.
