BLACK BEACH, Minn. – A U.S. Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Traverse City rescued four children stranded on a rock offshore the Black Beach Trailhead in Lake Superior on Sunday.

According to the Coast Guard, the crew arrived on scene and hoisted each child to safety before transferring them to awaiting emergency medical services in a nearby field. The children were evaluated by EMS, and no injuries were immediately reported.

The Coast Guard reminds visitors to exercise caution around the unpredictable waters and rocky shorelines of Lake Superior, especially when exploring nearshore areas where conditions can quickly become hazardous.
