Martin County Deputies Stop Courtroom Attack on Judge Roby
STUART, Fla. — Deputies swiftly intervened after a man attempted to attack a judge during a routine hearing in Martin County on Wednesday, officials said.
The incident occurred in Judge Roby’s courtroom when 46-year-old Evan Paul McCullough lunged toward the judge and spat at him. Deputies quickly restrained McCullough, taking him to the ground and restoring order within moments.
McCullough now faces charges of corruption by threat and battery on a judge or person over 65.
The sheriff’s office commended the deputies’ rapid response, noting their actions ensured the safety of the court.
