Police Charge Teen After Dangerous Driving Near Crash Scene
TAMMIN, Western Australia — Police have charged an 18-year-old man after a dangerous driving incident at the site of a serious crash on Great Eastern Highway.
Around 2:30 p.m. Sept. 1, emergency services were marking evidence at the crash scene with flashing lights activated when the driver of a Nissan X-Trail allegedly failed to slow down to 40 km/h as required under the state’s Slow Down, Move Over law.
Police said the vehicle narrowly missed another car and a police officer standing on the roadside verge. The Atwell man was arrested and charged with one count of dangerous driving.
Officials reminded the public that drivers must reduce their speed when approaching stationary emergency vehicles. “We continue to urge all motorists to take care at all times,” WA Police said in a statement.
