A green tree snake sparked panic after it hid inside a motorbike in Thailand.

The reptile slithered onto the handlebars of a Yamaha motorcycle parked at a house in Ang Thong province.

Driver Somwang said he was about to ride out on Monday evening when he noticed the serpent draped across his vehicle.

The creature then slipped into the machinery, prompting him to call snake catchers for help.

Video shows reptile expert Ratha Tapianthong trying to locate the snake. Despite the poor lighting, she managed to track it down and drag it out into the open within 10 minutes.

The snake was extracted from the rear wheel arch, and later bagged to be freed into its natural habitat.

Tree snakes are arboreal non-venomous snakes found in Southeast Asian and Australia. They are adapted to living in trees, using their agility and camouflage to hunt prey such as birds, lizards, and frogs.
