Flash floods swamped northeastern Thailand as Tropical Storm Bualoi brought heavy rains to northeast Thailand.

Aerial footage shows the deluge covering large swathes of Nakhon Ratchasima province today.

The Phimai–Chum Phuang Road was left inundated, with up to 16 inches of floodwater swamping a distance of 1.2 miles.

Nakhon Ratchasima Highway District officials and the Phimai Police Station have closed the road and advised commuters to use alternative routes to prevent accidents caused by the strong current and rising water level.

Authorities said the water is expected to recede in a day if there was no more rain.

The Meteorological Department (TMD) predicted heavy rain in parts of Thailand, including the northeast region, due to Tropical Storm Bualoi in Vietnam.

TMD director-general Sugunyanee Yavinchan said: 'People in the country should beware of heavy to very heavy rain and accumulation that may cause flash floods and overflows especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands.'

The department added that Bualoi, which left at least 26 dead after it blitzed through the Philippines, has made landfall in Vietnam's Quang Binh city, early morning today.

The weather system has weakened into a tropical storm and is forecasted to become a depression as it moves toward northern Laos.
