PEPPER PIKE, Ohio — A witness’s dash camera video helped police identify a hit-skip driver after a multi-vehicle crash on I-271, the Pepper Pike Police Department announced.

The incident occurred when a black SUV made a sudden lane change to avoid a collision, striking a red car and forcing it into a gray minivan. Instead of stopping, the SUV fled the scene. Thanks to dashcam footage provided by a witness, officers were able to determine who caused the crash and track down the vehicle.

Police are reminding drivers of the value of dash cameras and urging motorists to slow down when approaching construction zones on I-271. Beginning Monday, September 29, the northbound loop ramp to Cedar Road westbound will be closed for about two weeks, likely causing additional backups.
