A leopard that escaped from a zoo was captured after being found wandering through a hotel.

The animal had been taken to Lembang Park Zoo for a health check but slipped out of its cage in West Java, Indonesia, on August 28.

It remained missing for several weeks before security guard Nasimah discovered it on the second floor of the building on October 6.

Footage shows the leopard resting on the tiled floor as a frightened staff member quickly shuts the door to trap it inside.

Bandung City Fire and Rescue Service volunteers responded and safely contained the animal.

Firefighter Soni Bakhtiyar said: 'Our officers successfully carried out the rescue. Thankfully, there were no casualties.'

Officials from the Natural Resource Conservation Agency, police, and forest rangers joined the operation.

The team tranquilised the leopard inside one of the rooms and carried it out through the back fire exit.

It was then returned to the zoo for monitoring and recovery.
