Residents in Padang, Indonesia, inspected the damage caused after floods ravaged their homes.

Footage from January 24 shows several houses in the Batu Busuak area had collapsed and debris was strewn across paths.

Head of the Padang City Disaster Management, Basril, said: "Dozens of residents' houses were destroyed by the floods, besides that, it was recorded that two cars were swept away by water and dozens of motorbikes were damaged by the water.

"For the residents, their houses were badly damaged. They chose to live temporarily in their family homes. Meanwhile, some residents returned to clean their houses from mud soaking inside and outside their houses."

This is how the Batu Busuak area, Padang City, looks like, Tuesday 24 January 2023, after being hit by flash floods on Monday night 23 February 2023. Residents were seen trying to find valuables that could be saved.

Padang city disaster management has appealed to the public to be careful about flash floods again, bearing in mind that the Padang city will be hit by extreme weather with high intensity rain and strong winds in the future.
