CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Charleston police officers took a moment to embrace winter fun while on patrol after spotting students enjoying a snow day near West Side Middle School, the department said.

Patrolman Holbert Pomeroy, along with Corporals Aldridge and Means, encountered children playing in the snow during routine patrol duties. Pomeroy asked the students if he could join them, and they quickly welcomed him into the fun.

The lighthearted moment was captured on video, with the understanding that it would either show the officer keeping up with the students or provide a good laugh if he slipped in the snow. Either way, the interaction created smiles for everyone involved.

The department said the moment highlights the importance of positive connections between officers and the community, especially during everyday interactions that build trust and goodwill.
