Elephant bull enjoys bum scratch so much that he makes a tree wobble

During a safari in the Kruger National Park we took some time to do bird watching. While sitting still on the vehicle and scanning the bush for any bird life, we suddenly noticed a tall dead tree in the distance, wobbling from side to side. We were confused, and initially couldn’t guess what would make the top of the tree shake so much as there were no strong winds present on that day and the bush seemed fairly quiet. There was only one way to find out. We decided to drive towards the tree for a closer look. When we arrived at the tree, we found a very unexpected and funny scene. At the base of the tree stump was a bull elephant, busy scratching his bum. The elephant kept scratching his big bum and didn’t even pay attention to us. With his back and forth movements, the elephant made the dead tree wobble from side to side while it looked like he enjoyed getting rid of a serious itch on his bum. In the end we had a good laugh about the fact that a moving tree stump had us guessing and confused, only to find out that an elephant was casually enjoying a good bum scratch against the tree and with its sheer weight made the tree wobble without too much effort.
