At an ANC NEC (National Executive Committee) press conference in Cape Town, the secretary-general of South Africa's ruling party, Ace Magashule, addressed a question about a letter from scandal ridden company BOSASA.

BOSASA, owned by the Watson family of rugby fame, allegedly donated three million rand to the ANC. BOSASA was liquidated after it was revealed at the State Capture Commission of Enquiry, that it had engaged in large scale acts of bribery and corruption in order to be granted government tenders.

On 22 April 2019, in a question and answer session in Parliament, opposition leader Mmusi Maimane, presented to President Ramaphosa, a letter signed by ANC Secretary-General, thanking BOSASA and Gavin Watson for their "continued financial support".
