CCTV cameras captured the shocking moment a woman staff of a hospital stole money from a patient's bag in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

The incident took place at the Hamidia Hospital in Bhopal city on December 4.

Visuals show the woman, identified as Uma, a cleaner at the facility, walk towards the patient at 3:30 a.m.

After checking her surroundings, she takes out the purse kept inside the victim's garment and proceeds to remove a wad of currency notes.

According to reports, the cleaner stole Rs. 26,000 (USD 365) from the patient, identified as Gopibai (80), a resident of Kagpur village in Vidisha district.

She was rushed to the hospital with a foot injury after a cow stepped on her legs while she was waiting near the Nadra Bus Stand.

After noticing the money missing, Gopibai raised the mater with authorities, however, she was thrown out of the facility by guards.

Soon, her grandson, Shivlal, went to the police station, who refused to lodge a complaint.

The police, however, later filed a complaint after Shivlal approached the chief minister's grievance cell.
