Mount Sinabung volcano erupted in western Indonesia on Sunday morning (August 10) spewing a huge column of ash into the sky.

Footage showing clouds of ash from the crater of Mount Sinabung throw-up into the sky left locals watching as they ran.

Roads and roofs of residents' houses are covered with the remains of the Sinabung volcanic ash which erupted two days earlier.

The eruption this time will also thicken the ash on the roads and roofs of houses.

There were no reports of casualties or damage.
