An alert Railway Protection Force (RPF) official saved two passengers from being run over by a train in western India's Maharashtra on January 7. The incident took place at Kalyan Station in Thane.

CCTV footage of the horrifying incident shows on-duty cops rushing to prevent the elderly couple from falling off the train from either end of a moving coach.

According to officials, the two passengers were trying to board 01059 Godan Express when they lost control and slipped from the two entries to the coach. The woman was trying to enter the coach from the door in the front, while her husband was running along the rear end.

On-duty Head Constable Sheshrao Patil noticed the two passengers and rushed to their rescue, pushing both, the man and the woman, inside the moving train. Amidst this situation, their son was left behind at the station.

The rescued couple was identified as 61-year-old Asfak Mohd Khan and his wife, residents of Bhiwandi, who were travelling from Kalyan to Shahganj.

The Head Constable was assisted by Constable SP Yadav who managed to save the lives of both passengers. The couple's son, 25-year-old Abthab Asfhak Khan expressed his gratitude to RPF for saving his parents' lives.
