Margie Brown, a homeless transgender person, living under a bridge in Cape Town feels victimised by Cape Town law enforcement officers after recent raids at their homeless site under a bridge near the Cape Town CBD.

The City of Cape Town has recently come under fire for its treatment of homeless people. The City since 2019 has become progressively harsher with the fining of homeless people who are found living on the streets.

NGOs working with homeless people argue that the homeless shelters only have beds for 2000 people, while there are an estimated 14 000 living on the City’s streets.

City law enforcement officials are accused of allegedly arresting and beating homeless people while also confiscating their meagre possessions.
