Students walking to school hand in poppy to police after discovering illicit plant
The video showed 5 students walking into a police station with one of them holding the poppy in Enshi, Hubei province.
After through identification and comparison, police confirmed that the plant was opium poppy and immediately praised these primary school students since they had strong awareness on drug prevention.
The police were then led by the pupils to arrive at where they found the plant. It was at a ridge roadside corn field where they found a few poppy plants hidden and scattered. It was difficult to notice them if not after careful observation. At last, a total of 8 poppy plants were eradicated.
The video also showed that on the eve of the Children's Day, the police made a special trip to this primary school and praised the 5 students and had an anti-drug education lesson to all students.
The video was filmed on May 23 and May 31 and provided by local media with permission.
