Tornado rips through wedding party tent and injures 5 in Indonesia
A tornado ruined a wedding party and injured the hosts and guests in Indonesia.
Footage filmed in Simpang Bukik Batabuah, West Sumatra Province, on June 18 shows wind swirls occurring during rain, sucking water from a pond near a house in the middle of a rice field.
About 10 minutes later to the west, CCTV from a building shop captured the moment strong winds caused the car driver to slow down. The red car that was moving was seen being hit by an overturned tent that was blown away by the wind.
Al Masykur, a building shop employee, said strong winds also caused power outages when the wedding tent next to the shop was blown away.
Additional footage shows the shop's roof having been blown off by the wind. Store employees cover piles of sacks filled with cement so they don't get wet.
The head of Bukik Batabuah village, Putra Firdaus, said that at the time there were residents who were holding a wedding party.
“Wind blows messed up the wedding party. Tents, chairs, and guest tables were scattered. There were five including guests and the host injured by the roof and flying wooden beams," Firdaus added.
The tornado damaged two houses and a shop, while a number of cars and motorbikes were damaged by materials blown away by the wind.
