A giant monitor lizard got trapped in a net on the ground in central India's Chhattisgarh.

The incident took place in Korba district on July 23.

Visuals showed a giant lizard trapped in a net. It was trying to escape but was unable to. A man was seen cutting the net around the lizard for the rescue.

The lizard was eventually out of the trap. The man held it in one of his hands and later released it. The reptile swiftly fled from the place immediately.

According to reports, while playing cricket on the ground a few boys found a monitor lizard trapped on the net. Sports officer Dr. Bogi Sankar Rao was informed about this and he then notified the snake rescue team chairman, Forest Department member Jitendra Sarathi. Sarathi and his team member Saurav Srivas reached the spot and cut the net with great care, freeing the animal.

Sarathi said that the monitor lizard, which is called Goh in Hindi, is a very powerful reptile, whose claws have a lot of strength.
