A snake was rescued after being found in the pharmacy department of a district hospital in central India's Chhattisgarh.

The incident happened in the Korba district on August 3.

Visuals showed the snake inside of a space where medicine cartons were kept. It was learnt that an employee of the pharmacy store found the reptile after taking out a carton. He immediately informed the snake rescue services and a team led by Jitendra Sarathi reached the spot.

Sarathi was seen using an iron rod to take out the snake, which had entangled itself to it. He then brought out the snake out of the store and in the open where a crowd had gathered and were gazing at the reptile. Sarathi, very skillfully, put a plastic container on top of it and captured the reptile.

He later said that snakes have started appearing more in the rainy season and asked people to be aware and careful. He also stated that the district hospital should, from time to time, conduct awareness programs about snakes so that people would get rid of superstitions and react sensibly when they encounter one.
