Six-year-old boy rescued from borewell in northern India

A six-year-old boy, who fell into a 40-feet deep borewell while playing, was rescued by officials of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in northern India's Uttar Pradesh.

The incident happened in Hapur district on January 10.

Visuals showed the officials at work as they carried out the rescue operation. The boy's condition was being monitored using a monitor.

Later, the boy was seen escorted out of the area on a stretcher with an oxygen mask. According to a report the boy fell inside while playing near the borewell and family members rushed to the spot to his rescue. The rescue operation took over four hours. A report also claims that the boy is deaf and dumb.

A team from the NDRF reached the spot and provide the boy with oxygen as well as milk.

Locals have said that the borewell's cover was broken.
