Cape Town, South Africa - 22 October 2023: Thousands of pro-Palestine supporters marched across the City of Cape Town in support of the Palestinians and to condemn the actions of Israel. Protests in Cape Town have persisted since 7 October when Hamas militants attacked Israel and in turn Israel has retaliated with a sustained bombing campaign which has claimed thousands of civilian lives.

The march through the streets of Salt River was attended by Mandla Mandela and anti-apartheid cleric Dr Allan Boesak. Boesak condemned the actions of Israel and said Palestinians have been subjected to a far worse form of Apartheid than was imposed on black South Africans by the white minority regime which came to an end in 1994.

In the suburb of Sea Point thousands of people lined the main road with flags, banners and chanted slogans resulting in a traffic backlog. Sea Point is home to one of Cape Town’s biggest Jewish communities.
