Mount Marapi's lava flood caused access to the Silaiang National Road, Tanah Datar Regency, to be cut off.

Several points of the road have been eroded by river water, leaving 30% of the road impassable for two-wheeled vehicles.

Apart from cutting off road access, the lava flood destroyed a number of tourist bathing areas in Silaiang.

Padang Pariaman Police appealed to motorbike and car drivers to turn towards Kelok 44 or take the Sicincin-Malalak route.

The Padang Search and Rescue (SAR) Office noted that as of Sunday, May 12, at 21.00 WIB, 37 people had been found who had died, and 18 people were still declared missing.
