The Geological Agency Of The Ministry Of Energy And Mineral Resources (Esdm) Reported That Mount Ibu In West Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province Experienced Another Powerful Eruption On Saturday 15 June 2024.

This Time, Mount Ibu Ejected Volcanic Ash As High As Approximately 2,000 Meters Or Around 3,325 Meters Above Sea Level.

The Geological Agency Stated That This Eruption Was Recorded On A Seismogram With A Maximum Amplitude Of 28 Mm And A Duration Of Around 1 Minute 27 Seconds. Currently, Mount Ibu Is At Level Iv Or Caution Status.

"If Ash Falls, People Who Do Activities Outside The Home Are Advised To Use Nose, Mouth (Mask) And Eye Protection (Goggles)," Said Hendra Gunawan, Head Of The Indonesian Center For Volcanology And Geological Disaster Mitigation.

The Geological Agency Appealed To The Community Around Mount Ibu And Visitors/tourists Not To Carry Out Activities Within A 4 Km Radius And To Expand The Sector By 7 Km To Open A Crater In The Northern Part Of The Active Crater Of Mount Ibu.
