An illegal oil well caught fire in Indonesia and polluted a river, 8 victims, 4 people died and 4 others suffered burns, 2 suspects who owned the illegal well were arrested by the police.
The illegal oil well burning incident occurred in Sri Gunung Village, Sungai Lilin District, Musi Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra, Indonesia, located on the banks of the Dawas River, on June 28 2024, after the oil flow overflowed along the Dawas River on June 21 2024.
The illegal oil well area then exploded and burned on June 28 2024, a week after it flowed into the river and polluted the environment, resulting in eight people becoming victims in the incident, 4 died and 4 people suffered burns.
"4 people suffered burns and 4 people died," said Police Commissioner Bayu Arya Sakti

After the incident, the police immediately carried out an investigation and succeeded in arresting two suspects who were also the owners of the illegal oil well.
"After carrying out an investigation, we determined that 2 suspects with the initials TM and AN were the owners of the illegal oil well," he said.
