Wild elephant reaches its trunk into cars to search for food
A wild elephant reached its trunk into cars searching for food.
The hungry jumbo attempted to pilfer snacks from passing vehicles at Pha Trom Jai Cliff in Nakhon Nayok, Thailand, on August 18.
Footage captured by Rasamee Sriprasert shows the elephant ambling along the road and reaching into the cargo bed of a pickup truck.
It then walked away empty-handed after failing to find any food.
Elephants are known for their voracious appetite. The World Wildlife Federation (WWF) found need to eat up to 150kg of food per day - the equivalent of 375 tins of baked beans
Conservationists in Thailand say that wild elephants - up to 3,500 of them - have even developed a taste for human food and prefer to rummage through homes and vehicles for snacks, instead of the bland leaves they find in the forest.
