Approximately 20 firefighters and 4 fire engines attended a house fire on Larchmere Drive in the Hall Green area of Birmingham on Monday 23 December evening at around 9pm.

Firefighters were seen removing charred debris from a roof at the rear of the property at the end of the cul-de-sac.

A spokesperson for Staffordshire and West Midlands Fire Control said the fire was an ‘accidental property fire on 3rd floor contained to the roof space.

‘A family of four, two adults and two children, self evacuated before crews arrived.’

There are no reported injuries.

West Midlands Fire Service also tweeted ‘We have 4 crews in attendance at a fire on Larchmere Drive, Hall Green Birmingham involving a house fire.

Please avoid the area, where possible.’

A neighbour added: 'They [the residents] got out and are safe, they are in my house being looked after.'
