This is the heroic moment a lifeboat crew rescued a helpless dog that was swept out to sea in Wales.

Seren, a three-year-old Golden Retriever, darted towards the beach and ran into the sea after being startled by a noise while in a car on February 1.

As Seren was carried further out by the current, a fellow pooch walker alerted the Coastguard, prompting a quick response from the Porthcawl Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI).

Dramatic footage shows emergency responders heading to the rescue, pulling the dog to safety, and comforting it on the boat.

The volunteer lifeboat crew quickly located the exhausted canine about 300 meters offshore. Seren was brought safely aboard, carried by one of its saviours, shaken but unharmed.

Owner Andrea praised the crew's quick thinking and urged others to always carry a phone to call for help in emergencies.

The RNLI saves lives at sea through its 24-hour search and rescue services around the UK and Ireland. With 238 lifeboat stations and over 240 lifeguard units across the UK and the Channel Islands, its volunteers are dedicated to maritime safety.
