Terrified troop of monkeys scatter when python appears
A troop of terrified monkeys scattered when a reticulated python slithered towards them.
The snake was spotted by visitors wandering around an ancient temple, prompting workers to call the police to capture the animal in Lopburi, Thailand, on February 6.
Police recalled that they found the python hiding in a metal fence and chased it to an open area to make it easier to capture.
Footage shows the serpent gliding towards the field where a troop of monkeys was resting near the Phra Prang Sam Yot temple.
Upon seeing the predator, they ran away from it to prevent themselves from getting attacked.
The officers and a security volunteer eventually used a stick to subdue the python before placing it in a sack for release into the wild.
Pythons are nonvenomous constrictors that prey on rodents, birds, lizards, and mammals. They lack venomous fangs and consume their prey whole by swallowing them.
