It's cuteness overload at Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, where two rare litters of meerkat kits are making history—and hearts melt. For the first time in 11 years, the zoo is celebrating the birth of not one, but two healthy litters. Proud meerkat moms Keeya and Naledi recently welcomed four kits each, marking an exciting milestone for the Kids’ Zone habitat.

At birth, meerkat kits are blind, hairless, and completely dependent on their mob. As their eyes open, their world gradually expands—from cozy burrows to behind-the-scenes exploration. Keeya’s adventurous crew has already begun popping up in the public habitat, delighting guests with their curious antics, while Naledi’s littles are still snuggled safely out of sight.
