EAST LAMPETER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — An East Lampeter Township Police officer and a passenger were injured November 17, 2025, when their marked police cruiser was struck by a driver who ran a red light, authorities said.

The officer had exited Route 30 Eastbound Bypass and was turning left onto Old Philadelphia Pike on a green signal when a westbound Mercedes-Benz failed to stop for a steady red light and hit the cruiser.

Police said the driver later admitted he was distracted while cleaning his glasses. He was not injured.
The officer and the passenger were transported by LEMSA to Lancaster General Hospital with minor injuries.
