Officers and Bystanders Lift Overturned Car to Free Trapped Teen
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Columbus police are crediting quick teamwork by officers and bystanders after a rollover crash left a young passenger pinned beneath a vehicle early Oct. 19.
A Columbus Division of Police lieutenant was the first to arrive at the scene, where a car carrying six occupants — several of them juveniles — had flipped onto its side. Body-worn camera footage shows officers and Good Samaritans working together to stabilize and lift the vehicle enough to free the trapped individual.
All of the vehicle’s occupants survived and are expected to recover, police said.
The department said the incident highlights the importance of community cooperation and fast action in life-threatening situations.
