This is the heartwarming moment a hero local used a rope ladder to rescue a kitten stranded in a reservoir.

The villager and his family were strolling through an orchard when they spotted the hapless white cat floating in the pond in Rayong, Thailand.

Taking pity on the struggling feline, he set off to find a ladder and immediately carried out a rescue on May 18.

Footage shows the man laying down the ladder onto the steep slope leading down to the pond. Carrying a basin tied with a rope, he carefully climbed down and gently scooped up the drenched cat from the water.

He placed the sopping furry creature into the container, which was hoisted up onto the edge of the reservoir.

However, the frightened cat bolted away upon being rescued.

The villager said it did not suffer any injuries from the incident.
