A mother and her six-year-old daughter were rescued after their car veered off the road and plunged into a roadside ditch.

The relatives were driving home from school when the woman reached over to the back seat to pick up a bag, but lost control of the wheel.

She lost control of the vehicle and crashed into nearby bushes and landed in the stream.

Paramedics arrived at the scene of the accident near the Mega Home department store in the Kabinburi district of Prachinburi, Thailand, on July 1 at 5 pm cf.

Paramedic Chanchai Sittison said: ‘The accident happened just after school had finished for the day.

‘The mother had just picked up her daughter and was driving normally when she reached to grab her bag from the back seat.

‘In that brief moment of distraction, she lost control of the vehicle. By the time she looked back at the road, it was too late, the car had already swerved and plunged into the ditch.

‘Fortunately, she managed to roll down the window and call for help.'

Residents who heard the drash rushed over. They used a rope to drag the vehicle closer to the bank and pulled both the pair from the wreckage.

Onlooker Sawaros said the mother and daughter were shaken by the accident but were not seriously injured. They were taken to the hospital for checkups.
