Two Connecticut State Troopers Injured in I-91 Crash in Enfield
ENFIELD, Conn. — Two Connecticut State Troopers were seriously injured in a collision on Interstate 91 in Enfield, prompting renewed calls for drivers to slow down and move over for emergency vehicles.
According to a statement released by Colonel Daniel Loughman, commanding officer of the Connecticut State Police, the crash occurred while troopers were stopped on the roadside. Dash camera footage from a tow truck and cruiser-mounted video recorded the incident, which remains under investigation.
“Yesterday's collision which left two Troopers seriously injured was absolutely preventable,” Loughman said. “This is a reminder to exercise the utmost caution when approaching any emergency vehicles stopped on the side of the road. Slow down immediately, regardless of your lane, and safely move over to create space for emergency responders.”
The Connecticut State Police urged the public to stay alert, obey all signals and prioritize safety to protect those who serve on the roads.
