COLUMBIA, S.C. — Captain Riley of the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources signed off the radio for the final time on June 30, concluding an extraordinary 34-year career in public service.

With 31 years at SCDNR and three additional years in state service, Riley’s leadership as head of Region 1 Field Operations—which covers 12 counties—left a lasting impact on officers and the communities they serve. Field officers across the state shared messages of appreciation and congratulations following his heartfelt 10-42 sign-off.

The department expressed its deep gratitude for Riley’s dedication and steady guidance, wishing him a happy and well-earned retirement.
