A deadly snake slithered into a shop unnoticed while the owner was distracted playing on his phone.

CCTV footage shows the 7ft (2m) python emerging from the side of a container bin as storekeeper Theravit Nocke scrolled through his device in Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand.

The reptile moved slowly toward a chair where Theravit was resting but paused for a moment, seemingly sensing movement nearby.

The animal then changed direction and slithered to the centre of the store, where it was eventually spotted by the startled owner.

Theravit said: ‘The snake came in while I was busy playing a game.'

He quickly jumped onto the chair, leaped over the snake, and dashed outside to call for help.

The python was later found lying still on the ground on July 8.

Rescuers arrived shortly after and safely captured the animal before releasing it back into the wild.

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
