Deputy Relocates Rat Snake Found Inside Chicken Coop
PLAQUEMINES PARISH, La. — A Plaquemines Parish sheriff’s deputy took on an unusual assignment when a call came in about a snake in a chicken coop.
According to the sheriff’s office, Deputy Gongre responded and found a nonvenomous rat snake inside the coop. Although wrangling wild animals is not part of regular training, she managed to safely capture and relocate the snake to an area where its rodent-hunting skills will be useful.
The incident ended without harm to the deputy, the snake, or the chickens.
