Police Investigate Runaway Loader Crash in Milford, Massachusetts
MILFORD, Mass. — Milford police are investigating a runaway equipment accident that occurred Friday afternoon when a nearly 60,000-pound front-end loader lost its brakes and crashed on Cedar Street.
The incident happened around 1:38 p.m. after the Milford Public Safety Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting the crash. Investigators said the loader was traveling down Fortune Boulevard when it experienced brake failure, striking another vehicle and several road signs before hitting a guardrail and utility pole.
“It’s a miracle no one was killed or seriously injured,” Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino said. “If a motorist had entered the intersection just one second earlier, we could be facing an unspeakable tragedy.”
Police said a video of the crash has been posted to all Milford Police Department social media platforms. The investigation remains ongoing.
