FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif. — A driver was arrested Saturday after leading Fountain Valley police on two pursuits while operating a truck on a bare rim, ultimately crashing into an electrical pole, according to the Fountain Valley Police Department.

The incident began the afternoon of Nov. 15 when a sergeant spotted the damaged vehicle near Brookhurst and Slater. The driver fled, prompting a brief pursuit that was quickly canceled due to reckless driving in poor weather, police said.

Officers later relocated the truck and initiated a second pursuit. The driver again attempted to flee but lost control and struck an electrical pole, ending the chase. He exited the disabled vehicle and was taken into custody without further incident.

Police said the man showed signs of intoxication and was booked on suspicion of DUI and felony evading. The crash caused temporary power and internet outages in the area. No serious injuries were reported.

“This is a stark reminder of the dangers of impaired and reckless driving,” the department said.
